Egyptian Giza 45 cotton is an extra-long staple variety grown in the Nile delta: the length of the fibre allows finer spinning without loss of resilience, and the resulting yarn has a more uniform cross-section, a more regular surface and a superior natural lustre compared to conventional cotton. The 170/2 describes the yarn quality: 170 is the metric count, indicating extremely high fineness, and the /2 suffix signifies a two-ply twist, more stable, more luminous and more resistant than the equivalent single-ply yarn. The fabric produced from this yarn has an extraordinary hand from the first wear: soft, almost weightless, with a surface that reflects light uniformly across its entire extension. A fabric that ages with grace and improves with every wash.
